About Conducting signals

In the framework of free improvisational music conducting signals have to communicate different musical parameters on an as simple as possible way. With these signals it is possible to organize, to structure and to change the orchestral events.

Some signals are very general (to start playing/to stop playing), others are very precise (length of a tone). Often the musicians get a general entry and therewith space to develope their musical ideas. But for instance it is also possible to pre-organize some groups of musicians while others are still playing and then to combine these different groups in realtime.

The conductor is a kind of structural thinking and intuitive improvising realtime composer - totally in the present and at the same time some seconds in the future - in a kind of extended present.
